The Dressmaker

This is a portrait of Sarah. Oil on canvas 100 cm x 100 cm. 
Sarah is my partner and started to make a dress to wear to her sisters wedding. In the portrait she is sewing hundreds of silk flowers on to the dress. She spent many weeks doing this and it became something that I wanted to remember. 
I got great pleasure watching her work and wanted to capture the essence of her making the dress, which I feel I have. 
As with most of my work, this started out as an emotional response to an experience.
